Darrell Issa has been shown to be a liar, and a fraud.
Yesterday afternoon, Congressman Darrell Issa sent out a flurry of tweets, describing his plans to reignite the Benghazi investigation, and his intent to subpoena State Department officials.
In one tweet, Issa wrote, “#BENGHAZI UPDATE: I’ve issued four deposition subpoenas to @StateDept officials as part of @GOPoversight’s investigation.”
Minutes later, Issa tweeted that, “All 4 subpoenaed officials led bureaus where @StateDept’s review found deficiencies contributing to lack of security during #Benghazi attack.”
But, why would Issa suddenly do a 360, and start up the Benghazi investigation again, when he’s been so adamant about getting to the bottom of the so-called IRS scandal?
Issa’s sudden change in witch-hunting direction may have something to do with the not-so-surprising revelation that the entire IRS debacle has been one large manufactured scandal, created by Issa himself.
A spokesperson for the Treasury’s Inspector General for tax administration Russell George, said that the IG’s office was asked by Congressman Darrell Issa himself, “to narrowly focus on Tea Party organizations.”
Or, in other words, the IRS is and should be targeting all sorts of political groups, regardless of their affiliation, but Issa told the IG’s office to only look for “Tea Party groups” that were being affected by the IRS practices.
This revelation comes as top congressional Democrats have produced new information, showing that liberal groups were also “flagged” for extra scrutiny on so-called “be on the lookout lists,” (BOLO lists), the same lists that had targeted Conservative groups.
The Treasury IG’s office acknowledged that their audit included other watch lists that may have contained liberal political groups, but said that, “We did not review the use, disposition, purpose or content of the other BOLOs. That was outside the scope of our audit.” In other words, they only reported on Tea Party groups because Darrell Issa only told them to report on Tea Party groups.
Thus, with a little help from the Treasury Department’s Inspector General’s office, Congressman Issa has been allowed to play everyone in America for fools, especially the media.
Issa has also been actively manipulating Congress, and has been using his misinformation-laden witch-hunts to sway public opinion in his, and the Republican Party’s, favor, and against the president.
But should we really expect anything else from this modern-day Joe McCarthy wannabee?
Let’s not forget that Congressman Darrell Issa is the same man who opposed funding for 9/11 first responders, attacked families of people who worked in Iraq, and was in the middle of the Bush Administration’s politically motivated removal of 8 U.S. Attorneys.
People like Congressman Issa should not be able to trick and mislead us, and spend countless hours and countless tax dollars on politically motivated witch-hunts.
More importantly, circus clowns like Issa shouldn’t be allowed to run around Washington disguised as elected officials, and become the centers of national attention and media firestorms, where they have the power, and platform, to misinform the entire American public.
We have allowed Darrell Issa and his politically-motivated witch-hunts to fool us too many times.
In the inimitable words of George W. Bush, “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice can’t get fooled again.”
