Christopher Famighetti

Ian Vandewalker serves as counsel for the Brennan Center’s Democracy Program where he works on voting rights and campaign finance reform. Prior to joining the Brennan Center, he served as a legal fellow at the Center for Reproductive Rights, where he litigated constitutional cases in state and federal courts across the country. Before that, Mr. Vandewalker served as the Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellow in Nonprofit Law at the Vera Institute of Justice and clerked for the Honorable Frederic Block of the Eastern District of New York. He earned his JDcum laudein 2008 from New York University School of Law, where he served as a senior articles editor for the NYU Review of Law and Social Change. During law school, he was an Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Fellow; his areas of focus for the fellowship were the First Amendment and reproductive rights. He holds an M.A. in philosophy from Indiana University and a B.A. from New College of Florida.

Christopher Famighetti joined the Brennan Center in August of 2012 as a Voting Rights Researcher. His work involves researching the impact of voter suppression laws on the 2012 elections, with a specific focus on voter purges and list maintenance procedures. Prior to joining the Brennan Center, he was a Research Associate at the Women of Color Policy Network, at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service, where his work focused on researching the intersections of public policy, race, and gender. In addition, Mr. Famighetti has worked with labor, community and political campaigns as an organizer and strategic researcher. He has a B.A. from Bard College in Languages and Literature, has a M.S. in Urban Policy from the New School, and recently served as Adjunct Sociology Faculty at Montclair State University.
