In the summer of 2024, a coalition of grassroots-aligned, social justice-driven media organizations came together to build power. The Movement Media Alliance, of which Truthout is a founding member, is aimed at deepening, amplifying, and sustaining principled journalism, and fostering connections among the people who do it. We are committed to creating bold editorial collaborations, supporting each other in a tough media climate, and creatively building sustainability in the movement media field. We dream of – and are working to create – a just, courageous, independent, abundant journalism ecosystem!

Media Against Apartheid and Displacement

Truthout is proud to be one of the founding publications of Media Against Apartheid and Displacement (MAAD), a collaboratively curated media hub site that gathers and presents articles on the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Israeli apartheid and the occupation of Palestine, U.S. complicity, and movements for Palestinian liberation. MAAD is comprised of a growing collective of media organizations and platforms, all united behind a commitment to publishing journalism that focuses on the people most impacted by settler colonialism, imperialism, apartheid, genocide, state-sanctioned violence, and displacement. This hub draws from a range of movement journalism sources, pointing readers toward reporting and analysis that is accurate, rigorous, insightful, and principled. We recognize that independent, social justice-driven journalists play a key role in documenting movements during this time of intensified struggle, and we’ve come together to strengthen our ability to do just that.
