“Ultimately, I believe this is about protecting human life,” Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said in his veto statement.

The bill would ban gender-affirming care for trans youth, and exclude trans individuals from a wide range of sports.

A grand jury is expected to vote on whether to indict in the coming weeks, unless the prosecutor drops the charge.

Abortion opponents are seeking ways to work around voters and cancel out victories at the polls for reproductive rights.

The poll's publication comes one day after voters in Ohio passed a referendum legalizing recreational use in the state.
