Ron Boyer
Ron Boyer is a new contributor to Truthout. During his career in government, Boyer managed major, special projects in workforce development and criminal justice policy reform. He successfully advocated for and helped implement Public Act 511 of 1988, Michigan’s Community Corrections Act, a national model offering alternatives to incarceration for nonviolent offenders. In that capacity, he also served as a volunteer regional field coordinator for the National Institute of Corrections, US Department of Justice. Boyer was also a co-creator and project manager of the Mare Island Reemployment Center in Vallejo, California, a national model ‘one-stop-shop’ for transitioning federal workers into civilian jobs following the base closure at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Since leaving the public sector, he has become an award-winning poet, author and screenwriter.
