Rachel Cernansky is a freelance journalist. She writes about the environment, focusing primarily on water, coal ash and sustainable agriculture, as well as immigration and human trafficking for a variety of publications, including The New York Times, National Geographic News, Grist and Smithsonian.com. A New York native, she now lives in Denver.
