Leah Jones

Leah Jones, born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, is a proud Black mama, a maternal health advocate and birth justice activist. Leah serves as Deputy Director at SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective in Atlanta, Georgia. Since 2018, she has led the birth justice programming at SisterSong, creating the Birth Justice Care Fund and the lactation education community conversation circle Titty Talk. The Birth Justice Care Fund began in 2020 as a needs-based initiative in response to the social crisis that communities of color experienced due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The relief funds are intended for Black and other birthing people of color, especially queer and trans folks in need of support during their pregnancy and within one year postpartum. Since its inception, the fund has awarded over $400,000 to birthing families in need in Georgia, Kentucky and North Carolina.
