David Mitchell

David Mitchell is a professor of literature and cultural studies in the Department of English at George Washington University. Along with his research partner, Sharon Snyder, he has published four books and created four award-winning documentary films on disability history, art and culture. He is also co-editor of one of the longest running academic book series on Disability Studies in the Humanities at the University of Michigan Press. His next book, The Biopolitics of Disability: Neoliberalism, Ablenationalism, and Peripheral Embodiment, will be published in the spring of 2015. As part-time residents of the island of Kaua’i, he and his partner visit family who have lived on the Hawaiian Islands for more than 20 years. The island is where they hold many dear friends who are long-term residents living in proximity to the GMO fields.
