Will Evans

Will Evans is a reporter for Reveal, covering labor and workplace issues. His investigations have examined data security problems at Uber, the lack of diversity in California’s Silicon Valley and widespread illegal discrimination in the temp industry. His reporting with a partner and CNN exposed rampant fraud in California’s drug rehab system for the poor, winning an Investigative Reporters and Editors Award. Evans’s reporting has helped prompt government investigations, reforms and prosecutions. Previously, he reported on the secret money behind political ads and judicial conflicts of interest. Prior to joining The Center for Investigative Reporting in 2005, Evans was a reporter at The Sacramento Bee, where he and a partner exposed a nonprofit hospital chain that was targeting the poor with aggressive collection practices. He also has worked as a freelancer overseas. He is based in Reveal’s Emeryville, California, office.
