Tanya Abramsky

Tanya is an epidemiologist working within the Social and Mathematical Epidemiology group at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her research focuses on violence against women,its causes, consequences and means of prevention. Major studies she has worked on include the WHO Multi-country Study on Women’s Health and Domestic Violence against Women; the IMAGE study, a cluster randomised trial measuring the impact of a microfinance and gender equity training intervention on intimate partner violence against women in rural South Africa; and the SASA! Study, a cluster randomised trial of a community mobilisation intervention to prevent violence against women and reduce HIV risk in Kampala, Uganda.

Tanya leads seminar groups and lectures on epidemiological methods for several of the MSc programmes within the school. She has been at the London School since undertaking an MSc in Epidemiology there in 2002.
