Martinez Sutton

Martinez Sutton is an anti-police brutality activist from Chicago, Illinois. He is the brother of Rekia Boyd who was murdered by a Chicago police detective on March 21, 2012. Rekia’s case has since become a national issue, which has sparked actions across the nation to highlight the under-reported cases of Black women and girls who are/were victims of police terror. Since her murder, Martinez has dedicated his life to continuously fight for the rights of not only his sister, but for all women and girls who have fell victim to society’s brutal norm. He is the founder of Rekia’s Haven, a mentorship program based on developing youth to prepare them for a better tomorrow.
