Joshua Davis

Josh Davis is a journalist, filmmaker and assistant professor of journalism at San Francisco State University. Prior to joining the faculty at SF State, Josh received a Peabody and several Emmy Awards for producing social justice documentaries for VICE News, The New York Times and NPR. His roles required him to spearhead in-depth projects and to have the vision to tell stories in innovative ways. At VICE News, he directed the Peabody Award-winning documentary, Charlottesville: Race and Terror, which reported on the deadly white nationalist rally in 2017. At NPR, Josh directed the Emmy Award-winning multimedia project, Planet Money Makes A T-Shirt. Josh previously taught at NYU, Columbia and CUNY after earning his graduate degree in visual communication from UNC-Chapel Hill. He currently serves as on the Board of Directors for the National Press Photographers Association.
