Finis Dunaway

Finis Dunaway is a professor of history at Trent University and the author of Defending the Arctic Refuge: A Photographer, an Indigenous Nation, and a Fight for Environmental Justice, which received the 2022 Spur Award for Best Contemporary Nonfiction Book from the Western Writers of America and the 2022 Alanna Bondar Memorial Book Prize from the Association for Literature, Environment, and Culture in Canada. He has created a public history website companion to the book to share stories and sources related to the Arctic Refuge struggle. His previous books include Seeing Green: The Use and Abuse of American Environmental Images, which received awards from the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association and other organizations. His writings have also appeared in the Chicago Tribune, the Globe and Mail, The Hill, The Washington Post, and other venues.
