Truthout
Harlow Scott
Harlow Scott writes, “Before prison, I was a writer, addict, filmmaker, and incest survivor, and the world was my roof — sometimes literally. As an incarcerated artist, I love utilizing the unorthodox, such as painting with a tac or tampon on anything from corkboard, Styrofoam, or butcher paper to a crude cement floor. Every painting has a story, and every story I write begins as an abstract painting in the mind. When I’m released, I want to get a van and see some beauty across America while meeting some cool people and sell my art/books out of the trunk.”
