Robert M. Nelson is an NASA scientist who resides in Pasadena CA. In 2007, while employed at Caltech’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, he was the lead plaintiff in an unsuccessful Supreme Court challenge to one of president Bush’s post 9/11 national security directives. The directive authorized unrestricted and unconstrained intrusions into the intimate personal details of the lives of JPL employees. He subsequently left JPL. He is now a Senior Scientist at the Planetary Science Institute. He is a member of the board of the Southern California American Civil Liberties Union. The views he represents are his own.
