National Committee to Free the Cuban Five

The National Committee to Free the Cuban Five was formed in late June 2001, within weeks of the unjust conviction of the Five in a trial held in Miami. It was the first organization created in defense of Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González. For more than 11 years it has worked tirelessly to create public awareness of the anti-terrorist mission of the Cuban Five, and to create support for the demand that the United States government should free the Cuban Five and let them return to Cuba. It has also been active in the legal area, spearheading investigations into aspects of the case which have formed an integral part of legal appeals made by lawyers for the Five.
